It is an honour and a pleasure to nominate Devyani Singh, a climate scientist and a community activist, to be a COPE candidate for Vancouver City Council.
Devyani shares with me, and without a doubt, all of you, the understanding that three of the biggest problems of our time are all interconnected. Social Justice, Climate disaster, and the human need for community. When she is elected to Council, Devyani will not treat these things in silos. She understands that providing good housing for all people brings about healthy and happy individuals and communities; that creating environmental solutions brings about satisfying well paying jobs; and that free public transportation improves our environment and our pocketbook.
Devyani has spent her life and career solving societal problems with this holistic understanding. She is knowledgeable, caring and will always both speak truth to power and take the necessary actions to bring about social and environmental justice. She will be a fighter
for the people and for our city
